Day 20 - Morning Check-In

Good morning.  It's Sunday, the day before Memorial Day, and we are getting ready to go to a friend's house for barbecue, margaritas, and lounging by the pool.  This is what summer is all about (even though it's not technically summer yet).  I am going to do what I did yesterday at the pool party -> bring my own snacks and food.  It is supposed to get up to 88 degrees today so it's the perfect weather for barbecuing and swimming.

My kids woke up this morning and decided they wanted to make brownies.  They asked me to make them last weekend but we didn't have all of the ingredients and I didn't want to be tempted by having a pan full of brownies lying around.  A few days ago I bough some brownie mix at the store.  They had been asking non stop for several days and I figured that I am probably strong enough to turn down brownies.  I like brownies but I don't LOVE them like I do with some other sweets.  So this morning my kids came into my room to ask if they could make brownies.  I told them I was busy and that I would come out in ten minutes to help them.  Ten minutes later I came out and saw that they had already gotten started.  They didn't read the brownie box for instructions.  If they had they would have read that all that is needed is: brownie mix, eggs, water, and oil.  My kids had gotten out the milk, sugar, flour, and eggs and had everything in little measuring cups.  Once I explained that all you needed was oil, water, and eggs my kids decided they would rather make brownies from scratch.  Anyway...long story short, the brownies are now in the oven.  After arguing with my kids that we didn't have the time nor all of the ingredients to make brownies from scratch, they finally gave in and decided to use the brownie mix.  This actually works out because we can take the brownies to the poolside get-together today and leave them there.  This way I won't be tempted to munch on little pieces of brownie every time I pass by the kitchen.

I don't think I'll be going to the gym today.  I think I'll be too tired by the time we get home.  We are also supposed to have our weekly family dinner tonight.  I'll have to make the most out of the pool and swim laps for a half hour or so.  Swimming is actually one of my all time favorite ways to exercise.  I LOVE the water and have ever since I was a kid.  Going to the beach or to a lake or river is one of my favorite things to do.

Alright, have to check on the brownies and make sure my kids are getting ready.  Will check back in later.
