It's 10pm and I'm about to lay down and go to sleep. Today was a great day. I started the day by getting my kids ready and then dropping them off at school. After that I was off to the gym for a fantastic workout. I did the usual: elliptical for 35 min, stretched for 15 min, strength training w/arms/ legs /abs, and used the rower machine for 15 minutes. Yesterday I tried the rower for the first time and liked it so today I tried it again. When I first started out I didn't feel any of the "burn" you usually feel when working out so I wasn't super confident that it was working. Today I had fifteen minutes before I had to go and shower off so I gave it a try and, after five minutes or so, definitely started feeling the burn.
After my great workout I had an appointment at a clients for the rest of the afternoon. At 5:30pm I left my clients and headed to pick up my kids. We then went to the grocery store and got home around 7pm. Five minutes later my boyfriend/kid's father showed up. We walked down to Cafe Arrivederci which is not only about four blocks from my house, but it's also one of my all time favorite restaurants. As I mentioned in an earlier post, it was my bf's birthday and we were going out to celebrate. He ordered the calamari for an appetizer and a pasta/shrimp dish. My six year old and I shared the NY steak and my twelve year old ordered pasta w/butter and parmesan. As always, the food was excellent. For dessert I ordered the chocolate mousse cake for Ty and the kids. The waiter and staff brought the cake over with a candle lit in it and sang happy birthday. It was very cute. I was very proud of how I did. I stayed away from two of my favorites: bread w/butter and chocolate mousse cake. I ate my dish and that was it. No dessert, not even when I came home.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fulfill both of my daily goals, since the second one was to try a new recipe tonight and, since I didn't cook, that was kind of hard to do. I did complete my other goal which was to eat more fruits and veggies for snacks and less pretzels. Because of that, I ended up netting only 934 calories today (1308 - 374 from my workout). The steak I ate tonight had way more fat than I originally calculated so that was a little bit of a bummer but that's the first time that has happened and I'm sure it will happen again somewhere down the line. After netting so little calories and completing such a awesome workout I am very happy with how today went. I am even more happy that I had a GREAT night out with my amazing family.
Tomorrow I get to try out the new FitBit, yay!
Tomorrow's Goals: Walk at least 10,000 steps or work out AND my goal from yesterday/today: Try a new recipe.
