A Great Post from an Awesome Blog I Found

I stumbled across an awesome blog this morning called Love to Eat, Hate to Exercise: www.lovetowathatstoexercise.com

The woman writing the blog, Andra Ruscoe, wrote a great post titled "Physical Hunger vs. Emotional Hunger". In it she writes:

"1. Emotional hunger comes on suddenly; physical hunger occurs gradually.

2. When you are eating to fill a void that isn't related to an empty stomach, you crave a specific food, such as pizza or ice cream, and only that food will meet your need. When you eat because you are actually hungry, you're open to options.

3. Emotional hunger feels like it needs to be satisfied instantly with the food you crave; physical hunger can wait.

4. Even when you are full, if you're eating to satisfy an emotional need, you're more likely to keep eating. When you're eating because you're hungry, you're more likely to stop when you're full.

5. Emotional eating can leave behind feelings of guilt; eating when you are physically hungry does not."

This post hits it right on the money. Every time I have one of my "cravings" I am going to come back and read this to check to see if I am really "hungry" or if I am just craving emotional eating. I was just talking about this a day or two ago and couldn't figure out if I was actually hungry or not.

Andra's been writing her blog continuously since 2008. I have only been checking it out for 10-15 minutes and have already found several posts that I like. I strongly recommend you check it out.
