Day 17 - Evening Update

Tonight dinner did not turn out as planned. First, I tried that new Lemon Herb Chicken recipe and it was not that good. The sauce tasted more like a bad salad dressing than anything else. When I went to cook the broccoli it had mysteriously disappeared (I could have sworn I bought some at the store a few days ago). I had three stalks if asparagus left and I figured that was better than nothing. I found a recipe on AllRecipes.com that instructs you to melt 3 tbsp butter at med-high until the butter melts, add 3 cloves of garlic and asparagus, and then cap and steam for 10 minutes. It didn't say anything about lowering the heat and, like an idiot, I didn't think about doing it either. Well, guess what happens when you cook butter at med-high for 10 minutes. I'm actually not sure but I CAN tell you what happens when you cook it for 5 minutes... IT BURNS. The whole house smoked up and I am pretty sure I ruined my $90 pan from Sur La Table. The rice was only dish that turned out okay.

Thankfully, I only covered one of the chicken breasts w/ the yucky sauce because the kids would have reveled if I had made them eat a whole plate of that. I did make them try it though. My twelve year old said it wasn't bad but she didn't recommend using that recipe again. My six year old made a screwed up disgusted face. The asparagus actually didn't burn believe it or not (just the pot did). Besides tasting like smoke, it wasn't too bad.

My kids are having a lot of fun trying new recipes. My six year old LOVES to cook and it's been fun cooking with her over the part couple weeks.

Today at the gym I only had 35 minutes to work out so I used all of it on the stationary bike. For the first 5-7 minutes my knees were KILLING me. My knees have also been hurting going up stairs. I think my body is a little peeved that I gained so much weight and it's pushing back a little. Hopefully, the more I build muscle the less my knees will hurt.

Today was like most days...nonstop busy ALL DAY LONG. It's 10:28pm and I am finally off my feet. There were a ton of dishes from that crappy recipe (and don't forgot the burned pot). It took forever to get the dishes done. Afterward I finally got to shower (didn't have time when I for home after my workout). I am now clean, tired, and NOT hungry. My night time cravings are really starting to subside. In fact, all of my cravings have calmed down quite a bit (thank god).

I'm going to bed now. Tomorrow is Friday! Yay. I didn't have a chance to complete my goal today (join a fitness group) so I'll just have to tack it on to my goal tomorrow. Good night world, good night moon. :)
